He is also co-hosts the radio and television program Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman. Juan was also a founding member of the Young Lords Party and was recently inducted into the National Association of Hispanic Journalists- Hall of Fame. Howard interviews Julio Pabon representing "Boricuas For A Positive Image". Pabon is part of a coalition effort to hold WABC-TV accountable for racist and stereotypical remarks made by one of the leads on the new sitcom, “Work it,” who said the line “I’m Puerto Rican, I would be great at selling drugs.” The comment is part of a tortured history of media racism against Latinos which includes Fort Apache, the Bronx, Oliver Stone's Wall Street which originally had a scene in which Puerto Ricans were compared to cockroaches, the character of Kramer in Seinfeld stomping the Puerto Rican flag during the Puerto Rican parade, among others. The founders of the group "Exodus" write "like the Hebrews fled slavery in Egypt, individuals released from prison will more likely wander in their own wilderness- struggling with financial, family, and social issues- before they reach the promised land of full integration into mainstream society." The Jordan Journal interviews Julio Medina, Executive Director and Diana Cruz, Associate Director of Exodus which assists persons transitioning from incarceration.
