The Play button requires that your browser have the free Adobe Flash Player
installed. If you are viewing this page on an iPhone or iPad, the Flash Player is not
available. Apple has decreed that Flash is not allowed on their hardware.
Computer users can check whether Flash is installed in their browser here. Also, see our
help using the Flash Player.
To download a show, right click on the 'Download' link. In Internet Explorer use "Save Target As".
In Firefox and Chrome use "Save Link As".
The Days Left column is the number of days remaining until a show is removed from the archive.
Public affairs shows are available for 90 days, music shows for 14.
The new Flash-based MP3 player software is part of this web page. If you go to another web page, its gone.
To listen to a show and look at other web pages, you'll need to open either a new tab or a new browser window.
Then too, you can not use the player and instead download most shows to your computer where you can
play them with any audio software.
When you first click on the Play button:
The show should start playing almost immediately
The Play button moves to the right and changes into a Pause button, with two vertical lines (see the
screen shot below). You can use it to pause playback at any time.
The show downloads in the background at a speed that depends on the speed of your Internet connection. You can see
this as a gray stripe that moves from left to right. In the picture below, about half of the show has downloaded.
When the horizontal line changes from white to light gray, the show has fully downloaded to your computer.
It continues to play during the dowload process.
While the show is playing:
You can drag the dark gray section of the slider left and right to move forward and backward within the show.
The elapsed time is displayed on the far right at hh:mm:ss. In the picture above, the show
has been playing for 10 seconds.
The player does not show the total time of the show and does not offer a volume control.
